Kayak Orientation Programme
Duration: 4 hours
KOP introduces the sport of kayaking in a quick and no frills course. Participants will be taught the basics of boat handling in a fun and game-orientated setting. Special emphasis will be put on safety awareness and risk management of water sports.
SCF Star Award Courses
The SCF (Singapore Canoe Federation) star award courses is an adaption of the BCU (British Canoe Union) kayak personal skill award courses. These courses progressively introduces the sport of kayaking starting from the bare basics in the 1 star course and systematically moving on to the higher levels of paddling in the 2 star and 3 star course.
1 Star Award
Duration: 12 hours
The 1 Star Award aims to introduce beginners to the sport in a safe and enjoyable way. Participants will be taught the basics of boat handling as well as capsize and rescue procedures. By the end of the course, participants should have a basic understanding of the equipments as well as knowledge of the different diciplines of paddle sport in Singapore.
2 Star Award
Duration: 18 hours
The 2 Star Award is a skills intensive course where participants will be taught numerous different techniques that will allow the paddler to have closer control of the boat. Participants will be taught various sideways strokes, techniques to support himself when thrown off balance as well as effective turning and maneuvering. During the course, participants will be introduced to the effects of tide and tidal changes as well as effective expedition planning. An expedition of 6km during the last day of the course will expose the participants to long distance paddling.
Specialised Courses/ Clinics
Learn to Roll
Duration: 4 hours
Minimum no: 5 pax
Pre requisites: 2 Star Award
Learn to roll course introduces the technique of self rescue. Students will revisit the hip-flick as well as the Eskimo bow rescue, which are covered in the 2 Star course. The coach will progressively move on to a full roll. By the end of the course, students will be able to execute a roll. Course will be delivered by the most experienced coaches.
Kayak Expedition Leader Course
Duration : 6 hours
Minimum no: 5 pax
Pre requisites: 2 Star Award
Kayak Expedition Leader Course prepares students to become competent expedition planners and leaders. Course will cover areas such as chart reading, tide & tidal stream predictions, kayak packing, expedition administration requirements (mpa regulations), weather reading, expedition/beach management, risk assessment, emergency action plans. Course participants will be required to fully plan and execute an expedition during the duration of the course.
Kayak Rescue Clinic
Duration : 4 hours
Minimum no: 10 pax
Pre requisites: 2 Star Award
The Rescue Clinic revisits the rescues covered in 1 & 2 Star. Basic rescues such as T-X rescue, Kayak to Swimmer rescue and Eskimo bow rescue will be refined. Course participants will be introduced to technical rescues such as the stirrup rescue, flooding rescue, paddle rescue, swimmer to kayak rescue. Course participants will also get to try several re-entry methods like the deep-water re-entry and paddle float re-entry. Use of rescue and recovery equipment like the throw bag will also be covered in the course.
Learn Canoe Polo
Duration: 8 separate Levels of 2 hours per session
Cost: $20 per session

Learn to Canoe Polo is a progressive programme that introduces the game of canoe polo to absolute beginners. Each level is independent of each other. Students will be able to participate in a game of canoe polo after the first level. Each level introduces new techniques and tactical pointers that will improve the players competency. Students will be taught progressively passing and dribbling techniques, boat skills and tactical knowledge.
